Going on a “baby moon” before a baby comes into the world is all the rage right now. Why not have one last week long vacation to yourselves before you have to start changing poopy diapers? So Scott and I decided to jump on the bandwagon and run off for a couple days of fun in the sun. We had been on tropical destinations in the past and were looking for something different. I love a Ritz Carlton with a spa and Scott loves to golf, so Reynolds Lake Oconee was perfect for the two of us. It had a totally different vibe from any vacation we’d ever had. It’s a little oasis of beautiful land located about 70 miles west of Augusta, Georgia. The hotel itself is nestled right along a lake, with the most stunning views poolside. In addition to the infinity pool, there was also a beach were you could rent jet skis, kayaks, paddle boards, etc. The grounds also provided a park, places for children to play, kids club…there were a plethora of things to do. What appealed to us the most is how family friendly the vacation was.
The chicken nachos at the poolside restaurant were off the chain. I ordered them every day.
The hotel provided fireside S’mores every night and families would gather to roast the marshmallows and watch the sunset.
We rented a pontoon boat one of the days we were there and cruised around the lake for an hour. It was so relaxing. There weren’t a lot of crazy activities that I could do being pregnant so the boat ride was perfect.
It was fun to cruise around and shop for retirement properties 🙂
Food:
This restaurant was super casual but with a beautiful view. The food was good, but it was nothing fancy. I had a burger and Scott had a pizza. If you want to just throw something on and walk to dinner, this is the place to go. Menu HERE
The food at this restaurant was delicious. I feel like every place we went to eat had beautiful views, because this restaurant sat on a lake as well. There was a little bit of a drive from the resort to this restaurant but it was only a few minutes. We had the deviled eggs as an appetizer and I had the spring rolls for dinner. I can’t remember what Scott had because at that point I full and ready to put my feet up. Menu HERE
We saved the best for last. The steak was exquisite and the service was impeccable. All the sides are served in larger, family style portions so we had food to take back to our room. As always, dinner came with a view. Menu HERE
Things to do:
Scott golfed every single day. He said every hole had a gorgeous view. I wouldn’t know. I was at the…
I got a prenatal massage and loved it so much that I went back for a facial. They had a stunning underground pool but I didn’t end up visiting it because I wanted to lay in the sun.
Boat rentals, water skiing, water biking, canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and fishing!
I thought this was really neat and it’s totally something I would bring my kids to do. For a small fee, the kids can learn how to set up a tent, tie a knot, learn to fish, etc. Definitely something they would remember.
Oh, and lest I forget, the hotel is dog friendly.
I was very pleased with our stay at The Ritz at Reynolds Plantation. It was, without a doubt, off the beaten path and not somewhere I thought we would ever visit but I’m glad we did. I hope we can take our kids back one day!
