My husband and I were able to get away for a few nights while in Florida. I have a wonderful mother in law that is more than willing to take the kids and give us a break. Combine COVID with reduced room rates and hotel points, and you’ve got yourself a nice little getaway!
My bestie got married at this Ritz several years ago and I remember the rooms being dark. The entire hotel has been renovated and it’s now bright and airy.
The Ritz Carlton and the JW Marriott are right next to each other and there is a lazy river between the two hotels. There’s a full bar and this is the area where most families with kids go. If I had my kids with me I’d go where there is alcohol too. They have inner tubes that slowly take you around the heated waters. There is a lot of splashing and it isn’t quiet.
Scott and I did what most couples do when they have a few nights to themselves: go their separate ways. I went to the spa and then the pool. Scott went golfing. Below is the Ritz Carlton spa pool. Notice there are no children and the water is calm. If you get a spa treatment, you are granted access to this pool. If anyone comes in with rowdy children, they are asked to go to the JW Marriott/Ritz pool. This particular pool is for guests 16 and older. This is where I spent most of my time. If you go to the spa, you have to make a separate reservation for the indoor pools or saunas. I didn’t know this so I ended up just scrolling my phone in the waiting area. It didn’t matter. It was quiet and I could use the bathroom alone.
There you have it. Nothing crazy or adventurous. When you’re a parent of small children, sometimes just going somewhere for a few quiet nights is enough. The hotels and pools weren’t crowded, it was quiet, and the service in general was impeccable. Cheers to warmer weather!
