Christmas Rewind: My Tablescape

I would have loved to have people surrounded at this table for Christmas but having my little family there was enough. Even though there was only four of us, I set the entire table just to see what it would look like. I think I’ll keep this tablescape in my files because it was so simple yet so elegant.

I’ve had this Lenox tablecloth for many years but have never used it. I feel as though my style changes over time because when my husband first bought it and brought it home, I curled my lip up at it. He found it after Christmas for a steal of a deal. Knowing how much I loved to set a table, he proudly displayed it before me, only for me to make a remark of how tacky it looked (or something to that effect). I never returned it, but kept it in our Christmas boxes stowed in the back of our crawl space. Fast forward seven years and I found it. This time, when I pulled it out of the box, I had a new vision for it. Simple, elegant with pops of red.

A simple bouquet of roses and some gold candlelight is all that this table really needed. To open the roses up: strip the rose of all thorns and leaves. Fold back the outer layers of the flower. Fluff out the middle.
